60th birthday gifts they will not forget | 60th Birthday Gifts from GettingPersonal.co.uk
Turning 60 is an exciting milestone. It's a time to reflect on all the fun you've had in life and remember the good times but it's also a time to celebrate a new era in life! A 60th birthday should be memorable and fun, so we think that 60th birthday gifts should be unforgettable and fun too!
If you have a loved one turning 60 soon, make sure you get 60th birthday gifts that are useful or long lasting so that they remain in the recipients memory for years to come and really mark this momentous milestone.
Unforgettable Birthdays
As well as buying great
60th birthday gifts
there are lots of other ways to make a birthday unforgettable. One of our favourite ways is to throw a surprise birthday party. It can be simple and fun and depending on the season there are loads of affordable ways to set up a shin dig.
For example, you could have a summer picnic in the park and friends and family members could bring along some extra food and drink. For that all you need to do is lay down a blanket, bring some sandwiches or snack foods and a few nice drinks and relax. If you bring kids a long it can be lovely to play a little football or throw around a Frisbee and there are even small radios which you can get to add some music to the party.
Equally, for those who have barbeques and suitable outdoor spaces such as a back garden it can be really nice to celebrate a summertime 60th birthday by grilling some food outside and having a small get together. It's not that much more expensive to cook on the barbeque than it would be indoors and the smell of char-grilled food is delicious.
In the autumn and winter it's hard to beat a good pub dinner and I've yet to meet a sixty year old who didn't love an indulgent pub lunch! You can present 60th birthday gifts at the table and even have the birthday boy or girl blow out the candles on a cake.
For really inexpensive sixtieth birthday parties all year round you could consider a house party. By asking friends and family to bring food and drink you can cut down costs and it's easy to find someone willing to change CDs and play the birthday person's favourite music.
Having Fun with Friends
A 60th birthday is all about having fun with friends so if a party isn't their style what about a trip to the cinema. You could even make the cinema tickets some of the
60th birthday gifts
. For under £30 you can purchase an experience day gift that admits 4 people to see any film at all in almost any UK cinema. Perfect for film fans!
Other experience days offer other ways to have fun though, such as a pair of tickets to see a west end show in London and a night's stay in a London hotel. OR what about two tickets to go on a cruise along the Thames and have a wonderful three course meal while you look out at the London lights along the river? Potentially, even a quiet day indulging in a hobby could be a great way to spend the day for someone turning 60, after opening all their 60th birthday gifts of course!
Sophisticated Gifts
For sophisticated 60 year olds there are loads of other good options out there too, champagne hampers make lovely
60th birthday gifts
for example. You can also get champagne bottles personalised with the name of the person you're giving it to. Nothing says: Let's Celebrate! Quite like champagne?
A 'happy 60th birthday' photo frame or a metal heart memento with the number 60 engraved in to it both make really elegant 60th birthday gifts but neither are over £10 each! So, by choosing sophisticated gifts like those you could potentially afford to purchase something else for your loved ones too. The best elegant gifts will make the person who you are buying them for feel special and say something personal though.
That's why we also really love money boxes. Made of metal and shined to a high silver gloss a little message can be engraved on to a money box and they come in lots of different shapes and designs. They come in the shape of classic mini cars and fire engines as well as camper vans. There's even one shaped like a Ferris wheel. They look wonderful on display in a living room or bedroom but also provide a functional place to stash those spare pennies.
