Parents of primary school children may be wondering where the phenomenon of go diego party has emerged from! Certainly it seems that Diego the character has appeared out of nowhere to take over the young TV world! As a crash course into Diego's world, parents should look back to Dora the Explorer -the incredibly popular TV show which enthralled an entire generation of young adventure fans. Well, Diego is Dora's cousin, and he is a small Spanish boy who also has adventures saving animals in the rainforest. With his friend's baby jaguar and the magic bag and camera, he comes to a new animal's aid every episode, hampered somewhat by the naughty antics of two misbehaving spiders and other difficulties. However Diego is pure of heart and blessed with enthusiasm and tenacity! He has magical tools at his disposal to solve the rainforest animals' problems, and the beauty of his character and the show is that it teaches young children about respecting nature, helping others and learning to demonstrate the important values of adulthood. Diego is fun, lively, funny and charming - and he is inspiring young children all over the world. Dora also makes appearances in his show every so often!

The show is being exported all over the world and is already dubbed for an English audience. As Diego's popularity grows, so has the demand for a spin off line of Go Diego products - everything from pens to books and lunchboxes.

If you are organising a children's party, you might want to consider something different and in line with the time and trends... something like a Go Diego party! A go Diego party is guaranteed to delight your child and his or her friends, and it will definitely be the talk of the classroom! So to organise your go diego party a little forward planning is needed!

Think about getting some party invites in the post early on, to book your young guests' diaries out! You could make your own Go Diego party invites or buy some in to set the theme. Why not suggest a themed or dressing up party. Each child could come as a rainforest animal, or maybe their own favourite TV character such as Bob the Builder or Sportacus. This would make for a very lively and TV inspired action party!

Decorate the house for your Go Diego Party with balloons, streamers and banners. You can get packs of six Diego balloons in orange, and if you blow them up with a helium canister they will float gently to the ceiling and provide hours of fun for the young guests. Why not lay out a waterproof floor covering in green - to represent the rainforest floor, and put out sweets around the room in little bowls - colourful Smarties or dolly mixtures in bright forest colours looking like jungle blooms or bright fruits. For food think about easy to eat small bites- mini sandwiches, small fruit pieces, crisps and sausage rolls are all classics. For your Go Diego party why not try something different such as a small chocolate fountain - these are ideal for a gathering and guests can dip in small chunks of fruit such as pineapple or banana or little pieces of cake, and enjoy the melted chocolate dip to the full! Very moreish! Also look at a lovely punch for your Go Diego party - something bright and tropical coloured such as an orange punch with fruit pieces in and bright curly straws!

Think about fun games to play that are lively and in line with your theme - maybe re-enacting themes from their favourite shows, or playing active games such as musical statues, bulldog or musical chairs. You could even calm them down with a few episodes of go Diego if they are getting a little rowdy near home time!

Party bags are also great for luring guests away again to their parent's cars - look for small favours and games, and add in slices of birthday cake wrapped in napkins, small sweetie bags, little pieces of plastic jewellery or cars depending on their interests and maybe bubbles for timeless fun! The other thing to remember is the importance of getting help when organising your doo - don't end up running around and doing all the hard work yourself! Round up family and friends to help run after children, hand out food, clear up spills and generally help keep an eye on things and not get too frazzled - after all, with all this hard work and planning you'll want to enjoy your party too. All the hard work will be worth it when you see the smile on your child's face, and you'll know that they are delighted with their go diego party!
