Scents are also something that can help set the tone for the evening. Wearing an unusual perfume or aftershave your partner loves is a good idea. So is making sure your house smell warm and comfortable if you're staying in for the night. Some people thing that a rose scent is very romantic. Even if you have a meal at home, you don't have to stay in all night. 

You can still star gaze, visit a local place of interest or see something which reminds you both just how beautiful the world can be.

Affection and Attention

More than any other day, your anniversary is obviously an important time to listen to your spouse's views and wrap them up in love. After all, there aren't any better anniversary gifts than hugs and kisses. Let your partner know how unique and wonderful they are. You could also thank them for all those little helpful things they do around the house.
