Getting birthday presents for little girls is easy if you know what sorts of things your cherub likes. Usually, birthday presents with themes which match a child's favourite TV shows or games are ideal but they're also generic and little girls can quickly grow out of fads and develop new interests and tastes.

Another option is to purchase birthday presents for your little princess which tie in to the theme of their party. So, if for example you threw a pirate party for your daughter, then it might be nice to buy her a pirate ship moneybox or if you are having a fairy themed party what about a singing fairy alarm clock to wake her up every morning for school? These are interesting presents which a child can use every single day but that also carry sentimental significance and can be seen as lots of fun for years to come.

Presents Which Last

Toys get chewed on by very young children and all too often kids get bored. So many toys are shoved in the bottom of a toy box never to be seen again, what's more little girls are often bought dolls and pony toys by people who are lacking inspiration. That means that sometimes, parents can feel like there are just too many plastic play things around the home that are infrequently played with and take up space.

That's why we think it's a good idea to buy birthday presents which last. Not just toys that are fun for a week, but items that can be kept (potentially) for a child's whole lifetime but which are still interesting enough to get them excited for a little while when they open up the box!

Making Memories

In days gone by the concept of buying little princesses useful and enchanting birthday presents was a common one. Young girls would get bought books filled with adventure and music boxes in which to store their jewellery with twirling ballerinas; healthy presents that would be useful or enjoyed for years to come; gifts that could last a lifetime.

Now, the commercial toy industry dominates when it comes to birthday presents for girls but it doesn't need to dominate your buying decisions! There are even experience days out there for kids, so your little star could sing a song and get it recorded like a real diva. Imagine how nice it would be for her to look back on the experience as an adult and hear the original recording of her cute singing voice? Or, you could even take her on a cowboy adventure day to feel like a ranch hand. That's a perfect present for those little girls who love action-packed imaginative games and it could mean that she'll come back home dreaming of the Wild West.

There are so many possibilities above and beyond the usually bland toys and gifts that little girls are given as birthday presents these days. The best birthdays presents for girls will make meaningful memories; she'll be elated and appreciative rather than just happy until her present goes out of fashion!

If she's a little girl who loves to bake cupcakes, for example, you could get her a personalised apron to help out in the kitchen and whenever that apron came out of the draw she'd know it was time to mix up some sugar and spices and have some baking fun. That's also a gift that teaches a useful skill because baking takes concentration, discipline and finesse, all of which are skills we could probably do to improve in.

Growing Up

When I was a little girl my favourite games were the ones I'd play with friends in the garden, using my imagination to create interesting scenarios. Inventing new magical characters or even cutting card and painting to make cars and other props to play with. If you're thinking of throwing your little girl a birthday party why not incorporate imaginative play in to the party too. You can pain faces to make fairies, or goblins, or lions or explorers. They can paint their own cardboard wings or paste coloured icing on to fairy cakes in the kitchen and you can capture it all on camera.

As much as we enjoy our little princesses being, noisy, precocious little women, we know that they're growing up and pretty soon they're going to be rude and grumpy teenagers. So, instead of getting something that she'll play with now, but throw out later why not get birthday presents that will last a little longer? If you make birthdays a fun and creative event you'll have one happy, healthy little princess!
