                Let's face it, sometimes the guys get a little neglected. Too many times have I heard boys say that Valentine's day is for girls and that they are sick of getting socks for Christmas. So, when it comes to getting the men in your life birthday presents, think about getting things that will make them smile and feel appreciated. 

In this article, I'm going to look at the main men in most of our lives and how to put a smile on his face with birthday presents that really charm him. 

The Dad

Typically dads are strong, usually reliable and they often communicate through a system of grunts and puns. For example, "Grunt. They took soft drinks off the menu just to sprite people. Ha." Dads are also often very good at giving lifts home to their stranded progeny and more often than not they have a favourite place. Historically, a garden shed, garage or other deserted cold place is favoured by these odd-ball, easily amused creatures. It's all of these virtues which culminate in dads being deserving of only the finest birthday presents.

Dads usually favour those functional presents such as the gardening set, or the personalised mug that they can use at work. That doesn't mean you have to buy him that though, because there are all kinds of other presents which your father could like just as much, football themed calendars. Special days out doing incredible and exciting activities, brilliant books; one of the best things about buying birthday presents for a dad must be that you know whatever it is that you get him, he'll love it.

The Brother

There's no end to the teasing from a brother, it's a constant horror. It doesn't matter how much older you get, it never completely goes away. There's always the occasional unexpected prank or mean dig at your particular quirks. Having said that though, brothers can be very close to you too and pretty much best friends with you; very loyal and loving. That's why it's a good idea to take care and pick out really cool and funky birthday presents for them.

Brothers love receiving birthday presents that appeal to their sense of humour. So, if you're looking for birthday presents for your brother check out novelty items and things that will tickle his funny bone. A hamper full of retro sweets or a pizza made entirely out of chocolate and candies, which is presented in a take-away style box, would both appeal to sweet toothed brothers too!

The Guy Friends

Your friends are there for you through thick and thin, they make sure that you don't embarrass yourself if they can help it and offer you much needed advice and support. Usually, you have at least one mad friend and at least one level headed friend. Whatever friends you need to buy birthday presents for it's worth doing some investigating and finding out what they're really passionate about and then choosing something thoughtful, affordable and useful.

Why? Because if it's thoughtful they'll know you care, if it's affordable, they'll easily be able to buy you something that is worth the same on your birthday and if it's useful they'll use it time and again and never get tired of it!

The Partner

Your boyfriend, fiancé or husband is someone who you ought to know better than anyone else. You've had those blissful days together and probably your fair share of silly arguments too, so you know them inside out; all their strengths and weaknesses, all their best qualities and shared interests. So why it is so hard to choose birthday presents for them? 

The problem with buying gifts for the man in your life really stems from wanting to get something that will impress him. It's a certain type of indecision that can sometimes keep some of us more unlucky present purchasers 'umm'ing' and 'ahh'ing' until the last minute when we should have already bought something great. Don't fall in to that trap! 

Plan ahead and get presents months in advance if you have to. Think about your partner's favourite music, food, activities, hobbies, films, books, all of their interests and passions. Then, just choose something which compliments those or even better, buy an experience day for you both to go and have fun together! You can get weekend trips to historic English cities, cooking lessons, dancing lessons, trips to the theatre and more, so check that out and make sure that your partner's birthday is one to remember.
