Choosing Dad The Best Engraved Gifts (Engraved Gifts)

18 July 2011

When it comes to your dad's special day, be that a birthday, an anniversary, Christmas or another occasion, it can be difficult to think of a great gift to give him. It can be all too easy to fall back into the standard presents for fathers, such as slippers, ties, aftershave or pyjamas, but it is fair to say that any father would appreciate something a bit different; something that will let him know his family have gone to a bit of effort to show just how well they know him and how much they care.

You might think that your father will like just about anything you get for him and of course that is true to some extent. He is certain to appreciate anything his children buy him, but when you take some time to sit down and have a look for something that is really perfect for his taste, personality and age (if it is his birthday) and whether he will actually get some use from this gift as well as admiring it, you are sure to find something great that will put a big smile on his face.

So on your quest for the best gift for your dad, even with the best of intentions, it is easy to become slightly overwhelmed and not know what to get him. The best way to solve this problem is to firstly consider your father's particular interests, tastes and hobbies, as well as what he might need or want for work - it could be nice to get him something practical or sentimental for his desk at the office. The second thing is to then think about how you can make this gift a bit different and personal. Engraving whatever you decide to buy him is a great way to do this. You can put a personal message on to the gift, or his name and birthday, or even a quote from a person he admires or if he is a big music fan, some lyrics from his favourite band. Engraved gifts come in all shapes and sizes and there is plenty of choice. You can rest assured it will be something he will be far more likely to keep and love for years and years. If you get him socks or a tie on the other hand, he may not be quite as impressed!

So now the question remains, what engraved gifts should you get him? There are lots of different options to choose from. If he is a businessman, an engraved card holder is a really elegant, simple present that he will get a lot of practical use out of as well and because he will be using it almost every day at work, you can be sure he will think of you every day when he takes out a card!

Now for the dads who enjoy a drink or two, a bottle of some vintage wine or whiskey can seem like the perfect gift. However, the thing is, as soon as the bottle is finished, the gift is gone and sadly, probably quickly forgotten. The solution to this is to have the bottle or some wine glasses engraved, so your dad can enjoy his drink but still keep a memento of his special day for years to come. Depending on your father's favourite tipple, be it whiskey, wine, beer or even champagne, there are lots of Engraved gifts to choose from. Getting him a glass with a personal message engraved on it is a good idea. You could get him an engraved giant beer glass, an engraved wine goblet or whiskey tumbler, or even a pair of crystal champagne flutes. If you would like to splash out and treat your dad to both an engraved glass and a bottle of his favourite drink, you also have the option of getting a personal message printed on to the label on the bottle itself.

Cufflinks are another great idea for a personal, tasteful gift that you know he will get plenty of use out of. Cufflinks are a stylish, functional gift and having them engraved will make them that bit more special. What style of cufflink you decide to buy for your father depends on what kind of hobbies or interests he has. If he is a big sports fan, then a pair of silver rugby ball cufflinks with his initials and the date would be perfect. If he loves to golf, then a pair of golf ball cufflinks will be sure to make him smile and if he loves sports, racing or vintage cars, then a pair of car cufflinks could be the gift.

Engraved gifts are a lovely way to tell your father that you care; they are a personal kind of keepsake that can last a lifetime.
