Given how many pop songs, such as 'all I want for Christmas is you' (that diamond by Mariah Carey) profess that the best Christmas presents are the people that you love and allude to festive cheer and romance, it's uncanny how unromantic Christmas time can end up. How many times have you and your partner been stressed on the run up to Christmas and then stuffed and hung over during the aftermath with absolutely no time to cherish one another? Christmas time is a time to slow down and think clearly, put on the kettle, snuggle up at the computer and order your Christmas presents online. That way, there will be no stress (you can easily narrow down your search with a click of a button) no trudging down the high street in the cold, no impulse purchases that cost you more than you really need to spend and you'll even save money by avoiding paying for all those overheads a real store has to pay for (and includes in the prices!)

When you've bought your Christmas presents online, you might as well buy the Christmas dinner online too. You can get supermarket deliveries up to Christmas Eve in some cases by booking in advance and there are lists of special offers and bargains to take advantage of too. You can even go on Mysupermarket.com and compare how much your shopping basket would cost from different major supermarkets to choose one which saves you the most money.

Alternatively, for a really posh and fuss free Christmas dinner shop avoid the busy supermarkets and order from an organic store like Abel & Cole instead. That way you can get in your veggies and meat at the start of the Christmas week and sometimes similar organic veg box businesses also offer special deals for new customers.

Once the Christmas presents and food have been purchased and the cards have been written and sent (while you were enjoying a foot rub or some dessert, preferably!) then all you need to do is work out how to get your Christmas romance fix!

Romantic Christmas Gifts

There are loads of affordable Christmas presents which you can get a partner at Christmas. For example, rose buds made of thin, rose scented petals which dissolve in a hot bath and turn the water a festive and romantic red colour can be bought for less than £5 and they make a shared bath time that bit more special. Add some seasonal candles in ruby red with a cinnamon scent and dim the lights and you can turn a bathroom in to your own Christmas retreat.

If you're getting your lover a few Christmas presents why not treat your partner to a bottle of personalised champagne too? You can get bottles of bubbly personalised with wonderful thoughtful messages for the man or woman of your dreams and then enjoy champagne together in your own luxurious, sensual bath or drink it as an aperitif before a hearty winter meal.

Spicy massage oils can be a great way to sooth and comfort stiff muscles on a cold night and can also turn up the temperature in other ways! Then there are cute and fun activities you could do together, such as baking gingerbread cookies, decorating the Christmas tree, making your own Christmas decorations such as coloured paper chains or even putting a big pan on the stove and making a pot of mulled wine.

Thoughtful Messages

Christmas presents with little messages associated with them can be really romantic at Christmas time. If you're spending your first Christmas in a new home with your partner you could get them a personalised Christmas bauble to celebrate the occasion with your names and the year engraved in to the flawless glass.

Or, if your partner loves a certain type of drink you could get him or her a personalised glass or hipflask. It can be lovely to go for a winter walk in the frosty air, all wrapped up in hats and scarves with a hipflask of a warming spirit such as scotch, bourbon or brandy. The hipflask would be even better if it had a special message engraved on to the front!
