Aren't babies adorable? They're like totally different creatures to kids and grown ups with their magic smiles and those joyful little noises that they make. Choosing baby giftss for your friend or relatives newborns can be great fun too because there are so many awesome baby gifts out there right now. Baby gift used to be far more boring and they're typically a keepsake spoon in a stuffy velvet box or something else that was impractical and bland. Now, however we're spoilt for choice when trying to 'spoil' new parents.
Having a baby around can help you to look at the world with fresh eyes. The miracle of birth is compelling and life affirming and it reminds us how simple and glorious nature really is. Then you realise you have to change nappies, clean constantly and deal with a large amount of milky sick! It's worth it though because children are such a joy and they seem to develop and grow up so quickly. In this article, we'll give you a few great ideas for baby gifts that say something interesting about you and your loved ones.

Gifts as Sweet as the Baby is

Picking out baby gifts is very personal and that makes personalised baby gifts with little meaningful messages or the name of the child (hopefully spelled correctly!) really good options. Baby blankets are a common way to soothe children's tempers without resorting to thumb sucking, so they're a modern and popular solution to tears and tantrums. They're also affordable being easily purchased for under £15 and you can get personalised blankets in blue for a boy or pink for a girl with the child's name luxuriously embroidered in to the fabric.
When a baby starts to eat, it can be much easier to convince them to do so enthusiastically if they have their own special plate too and that's one of the baby gifts which can be easily customised with a new baby's name! Not just that though, you can also add the birthday, birth time and weight of the baby too to make it extra personal.

Long Term Presents

Children grow so fast. First they're eating, crying and sleeping, then they're chattering and playing, before you know it they're doing their homework and complaining about what's on the TV. So it makes sense when choosing baby gifts to go for something with a little longevity? A tippy cup is nice, but it's only useful for a few years before it becomes redundant.

Other useful ideas are things such as cutlery sets and personalised coat hooks; little items that will be used over and over throughout the baby's childhood in the home and which make life simpler while also providing a message of love and attention. Cute t-shirts also make good baby gifts because no parent ever has enough clothes for their new (and constantly growing) baby.

Personalised Cards

As well as finding the right baby gifts you might need to find a card to congratulate mum and dad. There are personalised baby cards out there that are ideal for the job because you can add the baby's name simply online and then just add a message and have it sent straight from the online store to the new mother and father. Or alternatively you can have it sent to you and write your mown message inside instead of stipulating what you'd like written inside it when you buy it. Lots of people keep the cards which have sentimental or heartfelt messages in them for the rest of their lives in keepsake boxes and there are lots of traditional things to write in cards for babies.
You could with the new child the brightest future, add a favourite poem or even make predictions about what the baby will be like in 20 years time, all of which are worthy of being kept by the family. There are cards which are suitable for boys, designs for girls and gender neutral cards too for if you don't know yet!
