Da, Dad, Daddy, Father, Step-dad, Pa - More Than Your Old Man :: Father's Day Gifts

Dads are great aren't they? We pester them for all kinds of things all year round and they never complain. Along with birthdays, the best time to treat your dad has to be Father's Day and you can thank him for all his hard work by getting him some great Father's Day gifts.

They teach us to talk, walk and eventually more often than not they teach us to drive, they make sure we eat well and help us out if we're needing a bit of cash until the end of the month. In fact, there have been studies which show 18 to 35 year olds get more financial help and support from their dads right now than they ever have in previous eras and this can involve getting on to the housing ladder, buying a first car or even just helping to pay the bills.

So with the huge list of great things which dads do for us firmly in our minds what can we do for them? Brilliant Father's Day gifts have to be up there. It can be so nice for them to receive lots of love and affection for playing such an important role in your life.

Whichever Father's Day gifts you choose, they should speak from the heart and offer your dad lasting happiness. So they need to be something really special. If your dad has a hobby it's good to draw inspiration from that but if there isn't anything you can think of which he's particularly interested in then we'll help you come up with a few thoughtful and sweet presents!

Men and Memories

Men remember things differently to women according to several studies on the human brain. Simon Fraser University in Canada performed a study which compared the memory skills of men and women. According to the University, "Forty-four women and 41 men, matched for [the] programme of study, were paid undergraduate volunteers," and the women had a better verbal memory than men. That means that women are typically better at remembering what has been said to them than men are, so if your husband or dad forgets to grab something from the supermarket (which you asked him to buy twice) it's not his fault, he just can't remember words as well as your sister or mum would.

Anyway, you can help your dad to remember that you love him by getting him Father's Day gifts with special messages on them! Engraved photo frames might seem like the sort of thing you'd get for a mother, but dads love them too. You can pop in a picture of you as a child, or the two of you together smiling and it can make a big difference to a desk at work and remind him what a proud (and lucky) father he is!
