                Buying gifts is a minefield at the best of times, is it not? Regardless of who we are buying for, it is often hard to associate a decent gift, one that will show the thought that went into it, as well as being useful, interesting or fun (or all three) to the person you are giving it to. Many people stick to the well worn and tried and tested paths to buying gifts for people and, by and large, these tend to work. However, when you are looking for fun gifts for someone, you might want to go that little bit further and find some things that are genuinely quirky, fun and fascinating, that will not just be tossed in the corner after one cursory look. With the behemoth that is the internet growing day on day, there is more scope than ever for looking for, researching and choosing fun gifts and as such it should easier to pick these types of gifts out. If you are still struggling however, I cannot bear to sit here and not lend a helping hand; a gift idea Samaritan (am I). Below then are a couple of my choice picks for fun gifts that are a little bit different - god, I'm good to you...

The first thing I would like to highlight is one of the very few fun gifts available that can literally bring sunshine into someone's life. These too will work especially well for those of us who are afflicted by Seasonal Affective Disorder, bemoaning the short days and the wind and rain! For these you can buy a jar of sunshine or, more accurately, a Sun Jar. This jar contains a solar cell, which is charged by the sunlight throughout the day. Then, at night, this current power three, warm-coloured LEDs which then give out, through the frosted glass, a warm and expansive recreation of sunlight. In a sense, it is a lot like having a little bit of the sun in your very room, without concerns about being incinerated to a crisp within milliseconds or being gigantically irradiated, as you might experience with a portion of the real sun. All told, these are great fun gifts, which make for a nice addition to any room and will be useful the year round.

One other thing that I wanted to bring to your attention whilst we are discussing fun gifts with a unique angle are Gift Tins and Packs; don't fret, there is still a celestial theme to this. Also, don't be underwhelmed by the phrase "Gift Tin" as it's misleading - namely, this is not some way to dress up a tin of beans as a great gift. These tins contain inside a wide array of extremely cool and interesting gift ideas and one good example is the Name A Star box. Everyone will have looked up into the firmament at night and had a little wonder at the stars twinkling away in the inky heavens. However, none, apart from those who harbour Bond villain-esque megalomaniac desires of domination, will have thought about naming one. With the Name a Star gift box, you can dedicate and name a star for that special someone, a particularly cool thing to do and quite possibly a thoroughly romantic one. However, if your girlfriend is the material type, I'd probably stick to jewellery...

As mentioned above, this is not the only type of gift box that makes for fun gifts. There are boxes that can make you a Lord or Lady, allow you to adopt a pony or a reindeer, buy land in America or, if this is far too earthly for you, even buy an acre of the Moon! You might chortle at the last one, but if I know science fiction, in about 200 years, when we manage to start mining the Moon, the mineral rights that come in the box could be worth a fortune; you heard it here first. Further boxes offer slightly more cerebral options, such as an IQ test, or naughty options, such as the Playboy Gift box. For the sake of this being a family website, I will leave the latter in particular to your own research and discretion.
