Gifts for men made more manageable | Gifts for Men at GettingPersonal.co.uk

Let's get it out of the way right now and all have a great big sigh! For this is how many of us feel when it comes to buying gifts for men. Men can be really difficult and unappreciative to buy gifts for (a trend no doubt carried over from many other areas of their lives...). You cannot usually get away with a scarf, a box of chocolates, or the latest Rom-Com DVD. And, a gift voucher from Boots does not generally spark fire in their eyes either. So, how do you make gifts for men more manageable?

Indeed, it is probably best to take a 'male' approach to buying gifts for men. In a bid to make the whole process more manageable, think strategy, logical deduction, categories and lists! Strategy wise, consider first the occasion that you are buying for (Fathers day, birthday etc.) and secondly and very importantly, consider what other members of the family are buying. Gifts for men can be made very easy if another family member is buying something you can add to, or build upon (like Lego sets, but let's assume the man in your life has outgrown Lego.... although it is a pretty cool gift and maybe should be considered as a back-up plan!).

Logical deduction, in this instance simply means that you ensure you do not purchase something that the man in your life already has, or is likely to purchase before his birthday arrives (for example, the next installment of Call of Duty, which he will by no means wait for!).

Make gifts for men far more manageable by putting his life into categories, for example; what he wears, where he goes on holiday, what brands he likes/dislikes, favourite sports, favourite bands, things he talks about always wanting to do, favourite TV programme, favourite films, etc. Then write lists for each category. Lots and lots and lots of lists! Write down all the gifts for men you think will be available to buy (or some that can even be made up!) and ensure each fits into a particular category. Suddenly, hey presto! You have a comprehensive, manageable list of gifts for men at your disposal!

All you have to do now is work through each of the lists to find the gift that will be most suitable for the man in your life! This simple, effective approach is almost guaranteed to work and you will be surprised to find that some of gifts for men on your list, that you assumed would be completely unattainable, are not. And, with a little searching on the internet, you will find they are actually indeed a real possibility! So, the man in your life has always wanted to be an F1 driver... why not book him on a Ferrari experience day, with a chance to drive round a Formula One track. If he has always wanted to jump out of a plane (though there have been occasions when you had wished he wanted to jump off a bridge!), you could book him on a skydiving course. The possibilities are endless and your gift if sure to impress!

If all this seems far too much work and effort, then you could just take the easy option, when it comes to buying gifts for men, i.e., just get him something with his name on it! Personalised gifts are so simple and blindingly obvious, yet so often overlooked! Yet, the simplicity of presenting someone with a gift with their name on it does in fact evoke quite an overwhelming emotional response!
And, everyone needs a tea or coffee cup with their name or face on it! Especially useful to bring into to work to ensure those darn office thieves cannot get their grubby hands on your favourite mug! And, given the current fear of sharing cutlery or cups, (thanks to pig flu the government are advising soft toys and crayons are not shared in nurseries, but let assume the man in your life has moved on from these too), have a mug that clearly belongs to you significantly reduces the possibility someone else will borrow it, breath on it and give you their germs!

Remember, if you are really hard pressed for time and inspiration, you can always fall back on gift vouchers, or e-vouchers, music download vouchers, or dare we say, 'book tokens'? And, seriously, the man in your life may be thirty nine on his next birthday, but a Lego set, or at the very least some sort of Build Your Own car set, will keep him entertained for at least an hour...
