How to buy stocking fillers on a budget | Stocking Fillers from GettingPersonal.co.uk

Stocking fillers, when it comes to sorting out Christmas gifts, might often appear to be the easier side of things. These are just the little trinkets that are there to complement the main gifts that are given. The thing is, a lot of the time, the stocking is actually the most exciting thing about Christmas gift giving. The main present that you wish for tends to be the easy part, as you are angling for it, whereas stocking fillers are, well, a knitted tight of mystery (I was going to copyright that phrase, but being as it was so awful I've decided not to bother). In this way then, you might well be looking to get some great stocking fillers, to wow and surprise and impress your nearest and dearest on the big day.

However, to drag you away from the more pleasing aspects of Christmas, it is obvious that the all pervading credit crunch and the subsequent recession that followed it, will continue to haunt us across the festive season as it has all year. Money has become tight for everyone over the past year or so and it is right that belts might well be tightened. However, there is no reason not to enjoy Christmas and the giving and receiving of gifts, as a little cursory look over the internet can show you that there are still great gifts and stocking fillers out there that are value for money. I know this because I have had a little look around on your behalf and picked a couple out; want to see? Oh, all right then...

The first thing that really caught my eye when having a browse around was something that will no doubt become massively popular. It is to do with mobile phones and we all know just how popular and widespread they have become, nowadays becoming more an all round gadget that does multiple things, like taking photos and surfing the net as well as more mundane things such as making and receiving calls and texts. As such then, the Mopod is a cool little accessory, just in from Japan, for your mobile phone and makes for perfect stocking fillers. The "Santa Girl" and "Snowman" Mopod is a gadget that you can clip to your jacket, on the outside of a bag, anywhere really and whenever you receive a message, phone call, voice mail or any other alert from your mobile, the girl or the snowman will dance around inside and the decorative lights will flash in an eye catching sequence. In this way, if you keep your phone out of earshot or out of sight in a bag or a deep pocket, you will never miss a call or text again! It is particularly suited for children, who will enjoy the lights especially, but the cool design means it is suitable for anyone of any age really. It also ties in with the appreciation of Japanese design and culture over here in the UK, something which I myself am a fan of.

Finally, I came to a really cool gift that I make no apologies for continually highlighting. The Sun Jar - Sunshine In A Jar, is an award winning gift that makes for brilliant stocking fillers. These jars are a fabulously unique gift, the like of which the recipient will probably not have seen before. The jar contains a bulb, which is charged during the day by any natural sunlight with a solar cell. In the hours of darkness, the jar takes this energy and emits it back out, through the frosted glass, as a soft light source. This gives a beautifully warm light out, which is very soothing and lights a room gently. It is a particular boon for those of us who crave the sunshine and get the blues in winter, as in this way you can have sunshine all the year round, even if the jar isn't likely to give you too much of a tan!

So, from mobile phones to a lamp that can save quivering sun worshippers, I think I have covered a pretty broad range of stocking fillers in the short space we have. This however is just scratching the surface when you are talking about great stocking fillers, as there are so many other good options out there just waiting to be found. I do hope the above has given you a bit of an idea of what is available and I hope even more that they suit exactly what you want. Good luck, anyway!
