How to find stocking fillers that are seasonal | Stocking Fillers from GettingPersonal.co.uk

Christmas, more than most occasions throughout the year, has a gigantic amount of cliché and traditional leitmotifs or themes related to it. For starters, you have the traditional religious imagery, such as the bright star leading the Wise Men and the stable where Jesus was born giving rise to a million reproductions of that nativity scene. Then of course you have the slightly more commercial elements of things, with old St Nick and his red coat and sleigh, the reindeer dragging him along, as well as all the lights, tinsel and baubles for the tree as well as all the trinkets and lights you can possibly festoon the house with. Another further image is the bedraggled, stressed person charging up and down the high streets of our fair isle, desperately searching for gifts and stocking fillers for their friends and loved ones!

This last image is often tempered by the fact that, due to the internet, anyone with any sense now avoids the human traffic of the shopping centres and gets their gifts and stocking fillers through websites. In this way, you are avoiding the stress of that whole battle, whilst giving yourself more time to research and buy the gifts. Then, you can have them delivered straight to your door, which again saves a job. To go back to the above points though, Christmas is a whole mix of traditional themes that in turn brings up seasonal gifts and if you are struggling to find some stocking fillers that fit the seasonal bill, I'll have a go at showing you how to pick them out with some ideas below.

To begin with, stocking fillers have to be of a certain type. They have to be not too large, not too ostentatious, bit still fitting in with the whole Christmas aesthetic, to complement the main gifts given. One thing that does happen over Christmas is that families and friends tend to meet up and share some time together and as such a lot of photos are taken. What better way then to present these photos than in a specially designed Christmas themed album? These albums have the traditional red colouring and features an array of designs, from a Christmas pudding to a Christmas tree. These stocking fillers make for nice keepsakes and are brilliantly 'Christmassy'.

Some other great little stocking fillers are things that complement the decorations or other aspects of Christmas. For instance, the Christmas tree is often the centrepiece of the decorations in your household and as such you will want it to reflect your own tastes in a stylish and tasteful way. The "12 Days of Christmas" is a beautifully designed modern polished glass decoration for your tree, which you will be able to put away and get out every year to bring that extra touch of class and tradition to your tree. Another one is the Shopaholic Bauble, which is ideal as stocking fillers for those who just can't seem to keep out of the shops! This too is handmade and painted in a pleasing way. The only thing to say about these stocking fillers is to make sure they are packed properly in the stocking, as they might get smashed otherwise!

The last of the stocking fillers I want to display for you is a cool little accessory, just in from Japan, for your mobile phone. The Santa Girl Mopod is a gadget that you can clip to your jacket, on the outside of a bag, anywhere really and whenever you receive a message, phone call or any other interaction on your mobile, the girl will dance around inside and the lights around her will flash. In this way, if you keep your phone out of the way in a bag or deep pocket, you will never miss a call again! It is particularly ideal for children, but the cool design means it is suitable for anyone really and should raise a smile whenever you get a call or text as she dances around inside her glass house!

Looking back, it would seem this little overview of stocking fillers has taken on a bit of a glass theme! However, all the above are perfect little seasonal stocking fillers, as they are neat and special in their own ways, without being like a completely main present. In any case, I hope that some of these are the kind of thing you are after and, if not, I hope it has set your mind whirring on some possibilities of your own.
