Unfortunately, babies can't remember their own christenings because they're too young! However, the hope is, that by giving them a special little gift, they'll have that keepsake as a special reminder that they were baptised and that they are very much loved. That's why choosing the best christening presents is so important.
If you're going to be a godparent or need to buy christening presents soon then here are a few things to think about...

Boys and Girls

When you're buying christening gifts think about whether or not you'd like to get something gender specific, it could add a personal touch.

There are christening presents out there for both genders and also plenty suitable for both boys and girls. For example, you can get pink themed christening plates for girls and blue ones for boys. Then there are tatty teddy bears great for snuggling up with that have a choice of pink or blue text on their t-shirts that you can personalise. You can add the child's name, their birth date or the date of their christening.

Christian Names

Personalised gifts that say the child's Christian name make excellent christening presents. So, almost any personalised gift has potential to be a great gift on his or special day. By making a gift personalised you engage directly with the recipient and give them something unique that belongs to them and them alone.

It can be lovely to have a few items with your name on them and many christening presents are kept for a whole lifetime, either on display, in daily use or with a collection of other keepsakes. By opting to personalise a present by adding the name of the little person, or the date of the event, (or perhaps even a message or bible quote) you make their present even more impressive!

Useful Presents

It can be nice to give a baby something which will be used daily as opposed to an object that will simply sit on a shelf. So, how often the christening presents would be used or looked at might be important to you when considering what to buy. Equally, a celebration teddy and champagne set is a just one of many great christening presents that is for the baby and for their mum and dad too. Teddy bears can be great fluffy comforters for new born children who love the feel and texture of soft fabric.

Affordable Options

When it comes to christening presents, our budget will often determine what we're able to get for a new baby. If you have £50 to spend or more choices are limitless but if you're on a budget you needn't worry either. There are beautiful little christening themed photo frames available for under £5 each and these often say 'baby's christening' on them along with a stylised Christian cross. The same style of frame is also available saying either 'it's a boy' or 'it's a girl'.

As a gift for the godparents a snow globe containing a photo of the baby is also a good option. It can sit on a desk or mantle piece as a reminder of their dedication to the child. For under £10 there are plenty of christening tokens available with Christian crosses on them that make good paper weights and keep sakes (again, great for a desk at work) or for a child's room. Elegant little photo albums and scrap books also make good christening presents and can be snapped up for under £10 each!
