Making an Impression – Impressive Engraved Gifts

There have probably been a few times when you've bought someone a present and they've feigned delight only to keep it in a cupboard ever more. I know I've received a few mad gifts in my time, the best of which was probably the Valentine's Day present of a blender. Ironically, it was not an engraved blender, but had it been I would have probably seen the funny side.

The reason it would have made me laugh, is because although a blender is a bizarre valentine's day present, engraved gifts actually are romantic. The idea of a romantic blender is one which tickles me, but there's something sweet and lasting about receiving engraved gifts. They're more precious because the person giving the gift has had to put some thought in to what the message will say.

Impress them

Impressing someone is the point of getting them a gift, right? So with that in mind engraved gifts are a great way to wow someone. They're great for people of all shapes and sizes, picky girlfriends or boyfriends, fussy little children, mad aunts, parents whoever you need a gift for. The main reason that engraved gifts are so versatile is because they're able to speak directly to the recipient they are utterly personal.

One type of person for which engraved gifts are perfect, is babies, because they'll enjoy playing with your gift as a toddler and familiarize themselves with it and then when they start to learn to read they'll be fascinated by your message.

This means that the words you've written will be forever remembered and considered, repeated and pondered like the child would a nursery rhyme while the kid develops and grows up. Your gift would become a household treasure, something shiny, precious and inspiring.

Engraving Meaning

You can choose what to say when it comes to engraved presents and it'll be immortalised in silver, which means any message, however whimsical, loving or heartfelt can stay with your loved one forever.

It can be lovely to receive a gift from someone which has your nickname on it, or which refers to a joke you've shared. Engraving is also a practice which has evolved over thousands of years, which makes it timeless and elegant.

Despite the current economy being a shambles, some of us are still finding coins down the back of the sofa and stashing spare change in the car which we tell ourselves will be useful for parking tickets. Kids love the toy car look and teenagers love the kitsch style while more mature people adore the real car itself, they just love the make and model. Minis are a bit like those gorgeous VW buses aren't they? So iconic and cool!

Saving the pennies is a good idea, so giving someone a great gift which can help them to keep their spare change safe is perfect. Another cool thing about those mini money boxes is that you can get a special message engraved on to the roof and you could say anything!

You could say something about the recession, about saving for a rainy day, about mini cars or say something thoughtful and pleasant about the person the gift is for. The message you write will only be limited by your own imagination. It's probably worth remembering though, that the message could stay in the family for hundreds of years! So it's probably a bad idea for it to be a naff joke.

Traditions and Milestones

There are traditions to give engraved gifts at special times in a person's life such as a silver wedding anniversary, a mile stone birthday (such as a 21st birthday) or as a memento to remember a certain time, place or career. Really though, engraved gifts are great for any celebrations because they're useful, fun and relay a direct thought or feeling. Engraved messages can add a sense of preciousness to a gift and that means things such as champagne flutes and cufflinks which are only used on special occasions are perfect.

It's always going to be impressive to receive a gorgeous silver plated money box, some exquisite champagne flutes or sparkling cufflinks, but what engraving offers is that final touch, that wonderful personal thought.

So, if you're searching for a great gift, engraved gifts might be the best way to express how much you love, cherish and respect the special person who you have in mind.
