                If you buy a card in a shop the most personal attribute you'll probably find on the front of one is actually someone's age, but being a year older is so much more than a number! Every year we become wiser and more experienced and this is especially exciting when it comes to young children.

There are obvious benefits to providing your loved ones with a card which has their name or nickname on the front. Some people struggle to think of what to write inside a card, so here are some ideas:

•	Talk about how you met someone and say why you're happy or lucky to still know the person.

•	Say which personal characteristics you love most; perhaps you love their sense of humour, smartness, kindness or their good looks.

•	Tell them what you hope will happen for them, do you hope they'll get a better job, or hope they'll pass their driving test soon, or even get good grades in their exams?

•	Tell them if you miss them and wish you could see them more often (if you don't get to see them as often as you'd like) or tell them how happy it makes you when you see them regularly and why.

•	Offer to help them (generally, or with something specific) and tell them you'll always be there for them if they ever need you.
