Having said that, there is no stipulation that Mothers Day Presents must be expensive.

Cost effective Mothers Day presents (avoid use of the term 'cheap' as this would imply a lack of quality) are surprisingly easy to purchase and many offer superb value for money. Of course, choosing cost effective Mothers Day presents is not a task that should be undertaken lightly – just because a particular gift may not be expensive does not mean that little thought can be put into choosing it. In other words, choosing Mothers Day presents that are unlikely to severely impact on the bank balance must be weighed against the need to search for gifts that are nonetheless worthy of a mother's acceptance. Purchasing any old item for a mother on her official day of celebration shows a distinct lack of imagination, respect and perhaps even love. At this point it is worth noting that chocolates, flowers and wine still constitute perfectly acceptable Mothers Day presents; in fact, the gifts remain traditional favourites amongst mums everywhere, so there is no need to avoid such items in fear of appearing unimaginative (even if this may be case). Perhaps the best place to start when choosing cost effective Mothers Day Presents that will almost certainly make mums proud is the humble card. Children and teenagers will, in most cases, be able to make their own Mother's Day cards from scratch. Such cards will normally feature a collage of interesting and curious items, amusing pictures, heartfelt messages or just scribbles in the case of especially young children. Most handmade Mother's Day cards are accepted with love, so this is not usually an area of concern; however, older children (as in anybody aged 15 years and over) ought to purchase a suitable Mothers Day card rather than make one. In this case, personalised Mothers Day cards are usually the best way to go as they still feature warm and heartfelt messages but can also be quite amusing.

If flowers and chocolates can be easily purchased online or at the local convenience store for little expense, it is advisable to select the alcohol elsewhere (obviously children will require the assistance of a grown-up helper when buying alcohol). Rather than have dad pop down the local off-licence or supermarket in search of a cheap bottle of wine, a personalised bottle of luxury Champagne can be ordered online that features the mother's name on the label (she will almost certainly appreciate this).
