Personalised Baubles: The Perfect Seasonal Present For All | Personalised Baubles from GettingPersonal.co.uk

Sometimes it's nice to give people Christmas presents that actually say something about Christmas! You can of course opt for those classics like a stocking to hang by the fireplace but most people already have a couple of those. One type of item which you can never have too many of is Christmas tree baubles.

They make great gifts too if you opt for Personalised baubles and add a small message of your own. Then, every year when the recipient is decorating their tree, they'll see that little token and message of love from you and be reminded of how much you love them (and probably how great you are, too!)

Christmas Ideas

You can buy Personalised Baubles which are incredibly elegant and well made for under £20 each and they come in a variety of designs. That means it's easy to find Personalised baubles for almost anyone you love. As well as buying Personalised baubles as gifts there are other less long lasting Christmas tree decorations which you can make yourself. Cookie decorations, for example are better for small, new artificial trees than any other sort of tree and should be eaten shortly after being presented on the tree too.

If you have a small artificial tree (and it's new! Because some older trees can invisibly exude lead) then you could decorate with Personalised Baubles, edible decorations and candy canes. You can pick up candy canes and foil wrapped chocolate Christmas ornaments close to Christmas time from stores on the high street but Christmas cookies can also make great decorations too if you bake them, add hardening 'writing icing' bought in packs from a supermarket and make a hole in them before you put them in the oven with a skewer, chopstick or butter knife to thread a ribbon through.

You can use lots of different recipes to make decorative Christmas cookies but strong biscuits such as gingerbread and shortbread work best. Here's a recipe for some light gingerbread style cookies. If you don't want to hang them on the tree and would rather eat them all straight out of the oven like a hungry Christmas elf instead, we won't tell anyone!

Edible Christmas Cookie Ornaments

Ingredients:185g Demerera sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
350g plain flour
100g unsalted butter
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons golden syrup

Method:
Step 1. Turn on the oven to preheat it at 200°C so that when you put in the cookies they will bake evenly. Lightly grease a pair of baking trays (you could use a baking sheet or lightly oil or butter them.) Sift the flour, baking powder and ground ginger in to a bowl together. Cut the butter up and rub it in to the powder-mixture until the texture of the blended ingredients is like dry breadcrumbs and the butter and other ingredients are evenly mixed.

Step 2. Pour in the syrup and sugar and mix the ingredients in to a dough, cover the dough in cling film and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes to settle.

Step 3. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a clean, flat surface. Try to make it about half a centimetre thick and use cookie cutters or a glass to cut out shapes. We love stars, snowmen and snowflakes but if you don't have a cookie cutter you like, a glass will do and should make nice round cookie decorations.

Step 4. Use a skewer, chop stick or a knife to makes small holes in the cookies so that there's a hole to thread the ribbon through when they are done and put them on the baking trays and then bake them in the oven for around 12 minutes.

Step 5. Once the cookies are completely cool you can decorate them with writing icing and thread ribbons through them to hang them. If you do decorate them with icing, consider leaving them to set and harden before putting them on to the tree otherwise you could end up with a mess!

Other Decorations

If you want to give decorations as a gift this year you could make batches of these ornamental cookies and also give your friends and family Personalised Baubles as gifts. Personalised baubles can be kept for a whole lifetime and you can have them painted or engraved with thoughtful messages that will make your friends smile with joy! Because Personalised baubles would be hung up on the family Christmas tree every year, you could be contributing to your loved ones traditions in a meaningful, memorable way.
