Admiration for Their Celebration? Planning the Party of All Parties

7 April 2009

The thought of planning the ultimate party fills some people with incredible excitement and others with unutterable dread, depending on your perspective! Natural party planners seem to always have a list of contacts right on hand, access to the best food and drink suppliers, the best ideas about creative locations and decorations, and a natural hand when it comes to organising the party guest list... then to add insult to injury, they will make a stunning appearance at their own party, looking like a million dollars, and spend the evening mingling in a calm and serene way, enjoying the company of all present, doing a bit of tweaking and directing other people to put out food and top up drinks... and generally looking as though they're having the time of their lives!

However, for the rest of us parties bring back memories of either masses of screaming kids running around the living room in e-number generated hyperactivity, or more grown up parties with adults dropping wine on new carpets, food burning in the oven, people turning up at the wrong time and generally the host racing around like a headless chicken, desperately trying to keep everyone happy and resolving never ever to throw another party again!

All is not lost though, and you can learn plenty of tips from successful party planners, particularly when you are planning an ultra special party. These occasions really do require something special - whether it be a wedding party, a ruby wedding anniversary party or a 40th birthday bash... maybe an exam celebration, an engagement party - or simply just a massive, lavish and exciting party for the sake of Saturday night!

When planning your party, make sure you think about the supplies you need to get in! Luckily there are all sorts of exciting and innovative party supplies to help make your celebration go with a bash and there are things for all budgets and tastes... with many available online for the ultimate in convenient shopping! Why not have a bit of fun looking for small and quirky decorations or fancies to make the party go with a swing. For example, for seated dos, you might want to have fun with decorating the table in a fun and novel way. Why not cover it in tiny confetti or sparkling stars, and use tiny tea lights or candle holders to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Fresh flowers add class and a beautiful scent, and you can have fun with place settings, fancy table runners and table linen. If you are holding a girly party - perhaps a hen do dinner before you all pile out on the town, or a girl's birthday party, then there are fun little accessories such as party shoe place settings to add a fun twist to table decoration. These are a fab little gift for fashionista hostesses and provide six little enamel shoe place settings - three for boys and three for girls, and they have little sparkles on for added bling! A great look for a fashionable table, and definitely a fun twist to the traditional table setting!

To get the party really into the swing you might also want to create some special cocktails - and the 101 classic cocktails kit will help you to create some new and exciting ones for your repertoire! The kit has a classic shaker, and a recipe book filled with classic recipes to create, along with parasols and straws for some added fun. Why not try the classic Cosmo, or a sophisticated Bellini... A fresh mojito always goes down a storm, and there are fresh twists to try too, such as a raspberry mojito. Just be sure to get enough supplies of spirits, mixers, fruit and glasses in for everyone to have fun with at your 'bar' - or ask guests to bring their own favourite spirit and a recipe they'd like to try. After a few drinks too, guests will surely want to start throwing some moves - so have an area of the venue cleared for dancing and some fantastic music on hand to get the party really going! And be sure to keep some finger food on hand too - mini pizzas, canapes, crisps, breadsticks and dips - maybe even a chocolate fountain with some fruit to dip in! With these elements all under control you're guaranteed to have a fantastic party that everyone will remember for a long while to come - just keep away from those cocktails slightly yourself so you can continue to play host - and perhaps have a taxi company phone number on hand for when you feel it's time to send your wobbling partygoers home again after their fantastic night!
