Present Her with Something She'll Love
3 February 2009
Women, they're amazing aren't they? They're wonderful. Mums are great at making you feel better when you're down, sisters always know how to make you laugh and girlfriends are obviously great at all of the above.
When it comes to making them happy though, how high do you score? How well do you know them? Making a woman grin and getting
gifts for her
which tick all the boxes can be close to an art form. Some guys are just naturally brilliant when it comes to getting gifts for women and others aren't.
The problem is; women are tricky. They say one thing and they often mean something else entirely. So, there are ways of getting the best gifts for her and presenting them in the best light, but you might have to become something of a secret agent, to pull it off.
Don't believe me? I bring to you a story about a friend of mine; his boss was speaking with him recently and he said: "Since I and my girlfriend are getting married this year, she says I don't need to get her a birthday present."
This made my friend laugh heartily. After all, my friend is a man who knows how women's' minds work in these matters. Had his girlfriend said she didn't need a present this year, he would have heard: 'Business as usual'…Whilst his boss, actually thought the lady meant what she said.
If a woman ever tells you not to get gifts for her, she's lying. Consider it a test. That's true of all women, a universal truth as it were. Everyone, male or female wants to receive something from their loved ones at key points in the year (Christmas, Birthdays, Valentine's Day) and no circumstances could ever come close to changing that.
Surprising Your Target
So, having established how sneaky women can be (admittedly, they don't mean to be!) it's time to think of ways to deal with their subterfuge and get some deceptive wits of our own. If you have a girlfriend and you're looking to get
gifts for her
that surprise and delight her keep them a secret. That's right a secret. If you're like my friend then that's not a problem at all, he can keep gift surprises easily, he can keep his girlfriend guessing.
However, if you're more like his boss and you tend to take things at face value, you might be tempted to blurt out information on whatever gifts you've purchased for her. Don't!
Girls love surprises. Taking the time and care to get her something she'll love and then refusing to tell her what it is will add to her anticipation, desire and excitement. It will add magic. A girlfriend could even start to employ spy style seduction techniques to try and find out what you got her, so keeping shtum really is the best thing for everyone.
Reading the Signs
When it comes to gifts for her, you'll score extra points if you pick up on her hints and preferences. This means that men who always get great gifts for male as well as female friends are more observant than the rest of us.
They notice that askance glance into a jewellery shop window and they work out what caused it. They take note of how a person dresses, or what food choices they make so that they can buy great lingerie or a special birthday cake. They soak it up all year round so that when those special dates arrive they have an intelligence log to back up their gift buying.
It's never too late to start paying attention either. You can even engineer situations and see what choices a lady makes. If for example, it's your mother's birthday and you're going to get
gifts for her
you could take her on a shopping trip a week or two before.
Chances are she'll show special interest in things she can't afford. Take note of those. See what she says about comparable items whilst you window shop. Take her to a cafe that serves cake and see what type she orders, suggest getting your girlfriend a ring or necklace from a jewellery shop and ask her what she likes in there and what she thinks your girlfriend would like.
Before you know it, you'll have a long list of household goods, clothing, jewellery, and foods which would be perfect for her. You can do the same with anyone and this does work with men too. Also: if you say you're shopping for someone else's gift it's the perfect cover for assessing your target.
Getting loved ones super gifts is all about knowing and surprising them. Remember: women want to feel beautiful, appreciated and worth your time and effort.
