It's that time of year again when Christmas is only around the corner and you can almost smell the excitement. Shop windows are dressed with glitter and fake snow. Shoppers stagger under the weight of huge boxes and heavy bulging bags. We workers look forward to a few days when we will be able to have a well deserved lie-in in the mornings and a short break from the bustle of rush hour traffic and all those bad tempers. The children look forward to their Christmas presents. But we all look forward to watching those fabulous old movies that they drag out, dust down and broadcast at this time of year – wonderful films that do not get to see the light of day at any other time. Right up there at the top of the list for all members of the family is Mary Poppins, with her happy countenance, helpful spirit and memorable songs. This lovely movie radiates warmth and joy, and is just what you need on one of those cold and damp winter nights.
