Sergeant gives own 'marching orders'
20 November 2008
It would appear as though the legendary political journalist John Sergeant has taken the decision to withdraw from the hit BBC television series Strictly Come Dancing. Partnered with Russian professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff, the dancing journalist has managed to stay in the programme despite evidence to suggest he's not fully equipped with all of the
gifts
necessary for dancing. However, he has proved himself to be in possession of an enduring degree of popularity with members of the general public, and this appears to have been the secret of his success.
"It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in as long as possible," said Mr Sergeant.
"The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far."
However, if John Sergeant had perhaps made use of a Strictly Dancing for two Gift Pack, he would not have been forced into making this move. Offering an introduction into the world of dancing, the Strictly Dancing for two Gift Pack offers any one of a number of different dances, including Le-Roc, Ballroom and Salsa. And although it probably won't turn anyone into a dancing pro, it will probably equip participants with all of the necessary skills to make a start. And while a Pole Dancing Lesson for Two might not teach the same skills, taking part would certainly be a lot of fun!
And if John Sergeant's antics weren't sufficient primetime television gifts, this year's Strictly Come Dancing is enjoying additional spice at the hands of ex S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens. The 30-year-old celebrity is reportedly getting her partner a little steamed up over her dance moves with Vincent Simone, her professional dancing partner. But whether or not she's deliberately trying to get her partner worked up, she might find herself in a position where it would probably be a good idea to invest in the giving of a few high quality
gifts
to help things return to normal.
In situations when things have become a little tense between partners, it might be a good idea to arrange an experience day for two. Such gifts make a perfect reason to spend some good quality time together and, depending upon the experience day chosen, it could be an ideal way to learn a new skill. Take, for example, the Chocolate Making Workshop for Two; this delicious experience day gives you and a partner the opportunity to spend between two and three hours learning the arts of the master chocolatier. During the event you'll create a chocolate teddy, one of the many delicious gifts you'll create before the day is done.
Or for the ultimate in togetherness gifts, how about a West End Theatre and Dinner for Two gift? Potentially offering the ability to redirect passions in a more appropriate direction, this gift makes it possible to watch a show of your choice, in addition to enjoying a delicious meal and drink for two in a West End pub.
However, after recent reports about contestant Tom Chambers, it doesn't look as though he'll be needing gifts like these to redirect any untoward passions. According to the Sun, the recently married star of Holby City has been wearing his gold-coloured Paso doble cape "in the bedroom". We can only imagine what other
gifts
he's been surprising his new wife with, but these things are only to be expected given that the pair only recently married.
"I was allowed to take the cape home and I'd love to take home the other costumes," said Tom Chambers in a report by the Sun.
"As a bloke, you're a bit worried, but the studio is so magical - all the glitter balls and lights."
Maybe Rachel Stevens would benefit from following such tactics? Although, by the sound of things, it might not be such a good idea for her to use the cape on set; that could only go and make things worse!
