Sharing Your Thoughts: Because It`s The Thought That Counts | Engraved Gifts from GettingPersonal.co.uk
It's an old saying isn't it, that it's the thought that counts? More often than not though, we say this because we haven't got something we wanted, or have perhaps received a substitute which someone thinks is substandard. Therefore, we say, the gift is less important and it's the thought behind the gift that matters. What we would argue though, is that both count! The thought and the gift are both important.
The meaningful message you create by getting a gift or 'the thought' matters are certainly the most important thing. The gift matters too though, otherwise, why would we take so long choosing the perfect ones?
Thoughts Which Count
The best gifts relay thoughtful messages they do this elegantly and clearly. That's why
engraved gifts
make so much sense. With engraved gifts you not only have an item to cherish which is potentially very useful, such as a golf set or a compact mirror for a purse or handbag, you also have a message carved beautifully in to the metal or wood; engraved in to the item forever.
Most beer lovers would appreciate a new beer glass or tankard but how much better would it be if it said the lyrics to their favourite song or reminded them how much a friend or relative adored them? The same goes for so many other items, from money boxes which make great engraved gifts for children and people who always have spare change hanging around, to charming jewellery and trinket boxes which are great engraved gifts for sophisticated women.
In all cases these are presents which would impress someone ordinarily but which, with a sprinkle of magic and a little ingenuity can have special messages engraved in to them. So, if it really is the thought which counts, the recipient can see the thought right there, written in text, clear as day.
Choosing Presents
Choosing gifts for people these days might involve a few different approaches. Perhaps you're a list maker and you know exactly the kinds of things you want to get so you jot down names and presents as if you're Santa Claus, or maybe you're an explorer and you like to head to the high street and look in 50 shops comparing prices and items and then going back and buying the presents which you think are best.
Both of these approaches are flawed though. Because in the first instance, if you make a list, you're limited by your own imagination! What about all those presents you've never seen before that are out there waiting to be discovered? You could learn a thing or two from the explorers if you're a list maker and if you're an explorer that's all good and well but isn't it hard work trudging through the shops? Aren't you tiring out your friends, as they gasp for a sit down and cool drink?
The trick these days is to learn from both approaches and to get online, there are no bustling crowds and there's tons of opportunity to discover new things. You can browse by interest, so if for example your friend loves golf you can find great golfing presents – such as the personalised golf set in an engraved gifts section. Or if your friend loves wine perhaps you could find the wine bar box set with the engraved wooden lid? These are things that make great gifts but for a lister they might not spring to mind and our intrepid explorer won't find them at such competitive prices in the high street, either! So get online and take a leaf out of both the lister and explorer's books.
Making Meaning
Even if you don't purchase
engraved gifts
for friends and family if you want to put smiles on faces it's a good idea to think long and hard about making meaning. Presents are something which have someone's attention and captures their attention for a split second. For that time, when the paper is torn and the item is regarded, you have someone's full interest and consideration. Using that opportunity to tell them something profound or heartfelt is the ideal situation.
That's why, if you don't go for
engraved gifts
and you choose something else, you might want to consider getting your relatives, friends or partners personalised greetings cards. In a similar way to the wow power of engraved gifts, personalised greetings cards can be adjusted online before being printed and sent to either you or the recipient. There are lots of different designs and you can add a name or nickname to the front of the card. You can also either write a message online at the time of purchase to have the card sent straight to the person, or have it sent to you blank to write in it yourself traditionally.
If it really is the thought that counts, engraved gifts or personalised cards are some of the best ideas out there!
