Christmas is brilliant, isn't it? It's a wonderful period of catching up with family and friends, sharing a drink and some food and, of course, giving and receiving presents. Whilst most people would assume the latter is more of a concern to the young and children, you might be surprised at just how excited some adults get about the gifts and stocking fillers they will be receiving, too. I can say this with some certitude as I am one of those supposed grown ups that actually look forward to Christmas in a big way and that is not just because my birthday is on the third of December! For me though, a lot of the time the most exciting surprises to be had are when you put aside your main presents, which you probably knew were coming and go into the treasure chest that contain your stocking fillers. Stocking fillers tend to, by and large, be uncharted territory, as they are the things that you will not really be expecting to receive.

However, as you will want to do with all your gifts, you will want to give stocking fillers that are at once seasonal, but also fun and exciting too. A great tip and it is one that is repeated year after year but is still ignored, is to GET THEM EARLY! A lot of the stress and running around in a mad state can be eradicated if you just take some time to plan ahead and get things done before the big Christmas rush. Websites, if not shops, tend to begin their Christmas campaigns earlier and earlier each year and as such you can get on their sites and snap up your presents and stocking fillers early. To save further hassle, just get them delivered to your door. I suppose however that I haven't really addressed a main problem here and that is just what to buy in the first place. I would by quite the hypocrite if I hadn't had a brief look around the Christmas stuff myself after all I said above, so here are a few things I came across on my brief look for stocking fillers.

One thing that seems a fun and easy idea to do is to take established gift ideas and give them a special twist. For instance, everybody uses or needs a calendar or a diary, as lives become ever more hectic. So, instead of buying a plain old calendar or diary, get them a personalised one! These come in all sorts of themes, styles and designs, from rock star to footballer, or even just ones with stunning images inside that are given that personalised touch. For instance, a picture of the blue sky and clouds is made to spell out the name of whoever is receiving it or any other message you would like, be it an in joke or something special between you. On the same token are personalised mugs, which also come in a variety of cool and funny styles, including putting their name on a banner at a football match, making them Superman and, on one exclusive model, being made into Sir Alan's Apprentice! These are fun and funky stocking fillers that make something normal that extra bit special.

This next stocking filler is very much one for the sportsman (or woman) in your life who enjoys a bit of golf. Two age old dilemmas are how to get in some sport without being barracked by your family and how to entertain oneself when in the throne room. To answer both of these questions, into your life comes the Toilet Golf Set. This set includes a putting green that fits around your toilet, a cup and flag, 2 golf balls, a personal putter and also, to ensure you are not put off just as you go for that decisive stroke, a Do Not Disturb sign to be hung prominently outside the door. In this way, you can practise your close putting in the peace and sanctuary of your own bathroom, which is perfect, as long as there is more than one toilet in your house I suppose!
In all then, if you take anything from this piece of writing, let it be to not leave everything until the last minute! Also, I feel the three ideas above would make for great stocking fillers and you would not be going far wrong in choosing them to give as gifts to your own friends and family.
