Lights, cameras and taking-action on the new years resolutions
New Year's resolutions are an important part of the Christmas tradition. After all, where would be at Christmas time if, after having a bit too much to drink and eat, we couldn't at least make ourselves feel better with the promise that our behaviour will change; that somehow, come January 1st, things will be somehow different.
But what are the most popular New Year's resolutions? Given the binge that usually precedes the start of January, losing weight has to be one of the most popular resolutions. And the closely related resolutions to improve fitness levels, join a gym, eat more healthily and consume less alcohol must also feature quite prominently. But what is the likelihood of these things actually happening? If you're really committed, it might become reality, but it's very often the case that resolutions have a tendency to lapse after a little while; after all, how many of us join gyms and, despite being obliged to pay a monthly fee, fail to turn up?
Other New Year's resolutions can include making a pledge to learn a new skill, obtain a better job, clear any debts and commit to a regime to save money, and even to take part in some voluntary work. Whether or not any are actually completed remains to be seen.
One possible strategy for adhering to these plans, and focusing on the goals ahead could be to make use of a calendar;
personalised calendars
really could be the ultimate way to help give those New Year's resolutions a boost. With the ability to personalise them with any name of your choice, not to mention the ability to start the personalised calendar on any month that you choose, personalised calendars can give you the boost you need by helping you mark and chart your progress. And it might even be possible to link a New Year's resolution to your personalised calendar's picture of the month.
For example, for those with personalised calendars dedicated to dads, each and every one of the pictures could be used as inspiration for a particular task. For example, January's picture of a snow-afflicted car could inspire dads to make sure their own dream machines are in good working order. And as for July, well who really needs a reason to drink fantastic beer? Wedding personalised calendars could be used to chart the lead up to the big day, and the personalised gardening calendar may be the ideal tool for getting to grips with all of those garden chores.
But for those among us who require more than personalised calendars to motivate us, what are the options? Setting goals could be the perfect way to achieve those all-important New Year's goals. With the assistance of a trusty personalised calendar, you can mark out your goals in a bite-size and structured way. Taking only one step at a time, you can make large goals seem easier; and minor successes can really help boost your confidence levels to the point where you realise just how achievable your dreams and objectives really are.
Other recommendations for improving motivation levels including maintaining a positive outlook on life, being patient, and giving rewards when objectives are met. After all, after setting structured objectives, wouldn't it be nice to get some well-deserved recognition? It's also probably a good idea to team up with a likeminded individual; and, especially if the objective is to get fit, try and combine that goal with something fun – after all, what's the point of going to the gym, if the thought of running on a treadmill sends shivers down your spine and fills you with dread?
But, most importantly, give yourself a break. Take the time to look through the pictures in your
personalised calendars
and be inspired. And if you don't manage to keep all of your New Year's resolutions, don't worry about it. After all, there's always next year!
