                There is an old adage that mainly pertains to Christmas, but does hold true in a universal sense, that it is better to give than receive. Now, I am not going to critique the ins and outs of this byzantine moral debate, but what I will say is that it is often actually better to give a gift that isn't just good for the one person, but for the whole. In this way, you have managed to make giving almost as good as receiving by getting yourself in on it! Only a truly selfish person would get, say, a board game, and ruthlessly clutch it to their chest and refuse to let others play. The first thing up might not be exactly the best example of the values I explained above, as if I was to receive it I would be heading for the hills to hide my stash.
