Valentine's Day is celebrated around the globe and has been associated with love since as far back as the Middle Ages. Traditionally hand written love notes were given to lovers to demonstrate the affections of the sender. Anonymous notes have also been popular over the years, with Valentine's Day offering those normally too shy to approach the object of their desire face-to-face a chance to express their feelings. Nowadays, the hand written notes of yesteryear have been replaced with mass produced greetings cards complete with pre-prepared verses and messages. While this has made it much easier for people to express themselves, it has also taken some of the romance and personality out of the occasion. Cynics complain that Valentine's Day has become too commercialised and, as a result, they no longer want to celebrate it. However, rather than giving up this chance to show your loved one how special they are, why not try to recapture the romance of the personalised notes of the olden days and send more personalised Valentine's Day Cards to your love?

For those that are hoping to catch the eye of someone special this Valentine's Day, try to find out what interests them and incorporate this into your Valentine's Day Cards or gifts. Successful relationships by no means require both parties to share all the same interests, in fact a few separate hobbies makes things much more interesting, but taking the time to at least understand his or her favourite things, even if you don't share their passion helps to show how committed you are. So, when you really want to say 'I love you', or even just 'I want to get to know you', stay away from off-the-shelf mass produced greetings cards and spend a little time creating your very own personalised message and recreate the romance and magic of days gone by.
