What online elves are for: Xmas gifts delivered to your door | Xmas Gifts from GettingPersonal.co.uk

The word Christmas is surely one of the most evocative in the English language. It brings to mind a multitude of wonderful images and memories, the smell of turkey cooking, the warmth of seeing family, the rip of wrapping paper and shrieks of glee from seriously excited children who then charge about the house with their new things. Not to mention the traditional dreams of a white Christmas and the serious overindulgence that a lot of us partake in over the festive period. However, one less endearing image of Christmas is the outright warfare that erupts on the high streets and in the shopping centres of your fair isle; well I say fair, but it descends into a Hobbes-ian war of all against all, in which the only goal is snaffling those must have Xmas gifts before that woman in front does. If you survive this trial of strength, you then get the intense displeasure of standing in a queue of uber-stressed and tetchy people, to be then served by an overworked and no doubt as-stressed person behind the till. It's, well, not the best of times.

I do apologise for this Scrooge like pouring of cold water on the whole Christmas dream, but I don't do so in vain... there is a solution to the nightmare of Christmas shopping and I'm here to share it with you! Yeah, nice aren't I? The point I want to make is that, with the internet, you now need not trawl up and down the high street into the hell I described above. When it comes to Xmas gifts, you can now do your research and Xmas gifts shopping from the comfort of your own home, where the only stress is whoever is in your house at the time! In this way, you have a lot more time to scope out what gifts you would like and, even better, you can sit back and have them delivered to your door. As the title suggests, let the on-line elves shoulder Santa's logistical burden of getting Xmas gifts to the right people and you can try and enjoy the holiday season just that little bit more.

However, you might well be saying now "Yeah, that's all well and good, but what if I need a bit of an idea of what Xmas gifts to buy?" Well, fear not, your faithful servant, after taking away some of your stress above will now try and point you in the direction of some good Xmas gifts; you're welcome.

In a lot of ways, Christmas is a lot about the children. Giving gifts to young children and seeing their excitement is probably the most magical aspect of Christmas. To this end, I picked out a great children's gift, the "Rainbow in My Room" set. This brilliant set is a special projector, that can be situated almost anywhere to emit a rainbow on to any surface you choose. This works well as a night light for small children and it even includes a special prism so that you can create rainbows during the day. To be honest, the inner child in me kind of wants one, as I imagine it would be very soothing to have that in the room as you were trying to go off to sleep...

Moving swiftly on, I wanted to highlight some Xmas gifts that could appeal to anyone. One way to make any gift extra special is to personalise it, as it shows you have put some thought of your own into it. For instance, a calendar is an extremely useful, some might say essential tool in organising your life. However, buying a calendar is maybe a little sterile but by adding a personalised touch with a special design incorporating their name just makes it all the more special. It is not just calendars that can do this though, as other everyday items, from diaries to mugs, can be personalised in this manner. At best, it can add that dash of uniqueness to a gift and at worst it makes it stand out from the crowd - it's win-win really when it comes to getting them something that little bit different.

So, the points to take from this: don't get yourself mega stressed when getting Xmas gifts and do your shopping on-line. In addition, if you want to get what might seem a normal present, but still make it special, spice it up a bit with personalisation. There, I've saved your Christmas and once again, you're welcome!
