Christmas stockings are traditionally hung on Christmas Eve by children so that Santa can fill them with pleasant treats whilst they sleep. They are hung over the fireplace or at the bottom of the bed with small toys, fruit, sweets and coins left inside the Christmas stocking ready to be discovered on Christmas morning. These small items have come to be known as stocking fillers.

In the West the legend goes that if a child has been bad, they will find a lump of coal in their stocking rather than the toys and sweets they were expecting to find. If you don't want your loved ones to be disappointed when they peek in their stockings on Christmas morning, you have come to the right place. We have amazing stocking fillers to fit all stockings whether big or small. Stocking fillers are often less expensive than the main presents which are given out at Christmas, but, they are often the most exciting. You never know just what you are going to find tucked into your stocking on Christmas morning.

It is said that the tradition of stuffing stockings with stocking fillers began in the small village of Patara sometime in the third century! The village of Patara was in Greece and St Nicholas was said to have lived there. He was also said to have given every penny he had to the poor and needy who needed it much more than he did. The stockings are meant to serve as a reminder of this.

It is often very hard to find just the right things when searching for the perfect stocking fillers. The best thing to do is to think about the person you are buying for. What sorts of things do they like doing? What are their hobbies and interests? Think about their unique qualities and the relationship between you and it should be a lot easier for you to pick out just the right things.

If the person you are buying for is a bit of a girly girl, you might want to consider buying some make-up. It is small and can easily fit into a stocking. Of course, since it is for a special occasion, you will want to buy something extra special. Why not treat them to a Naughty but Nice lip gloss pack? You could buy them some golf ball cufflinks which they could wear for a special occasion or even a set allowing them to make their own personalised Christmas cards if they are into arts and crafts. You could give them a personalised Christmas decoration so that they would always think of you fondly when decorating the Christmas tree at that most special time of year. You could even buy them a ready personalised gift such as a teddy bear or their very own personalised diary for the New Year ahead. Personalised mugs and t-shirts also make great stocking fillers and show the recipient that you truly thought about the gift you have given them rather than just opting for something generic and impersonal and they will certainly be better than a big lump of coal on Christmas morning.
