Choosing different cards for the different people in your life is a lot like choosing different gifts. The right card can make someone beam a great big grin and the wrong one can make them quirk a brow or even offend them!

So if you're looking in to buying personalised cards for your friends choose one which is appropriate for them in terms of both the person's age and their sense of style. If you can, look for something which compliments their personality.

Cards For Kids
Choosing personalised cards for children is especially easy because you will typically want to go for bold colourful designs which include the child's name and age. There are loads out there and most of them are gender neutral so you can get them for either a boy or a girl. Kids love seeing their name written on the front of a greeting card because they're usually at a stage where they have either learned to write it, or are learning to (if they can tell that it's there at all, that is!)

Inside the card you could write them a little rhyming poem, tell them how much you love them and why or even say something silly that sparks their imagination. Chances are, if the child's parents like the card it will be kept until the child is old enough to add it to a scrapbook or memory box.

Romantic Cards
When it comes to romance, personalised cards can be perfect because they address the one you love directly with their name; slap bang on the front of the card. However, it's worth remembering that the most important thing about romantic cards for Valentine's Day and those annual anniversaries is what you choose to write inside the card.

If you're stuck for inspiration why don't you look for a poem that represents how you feel about the other person and use that? Just make sure that you write at the bottom who it was by, otherwise they might be unfamiliar with it and think you've suddenly become a master poet!

Cards For Siblings
Brothers and sisters love buying their siblings funny personalised cards and usually there are a few jokes shared between them which still remain from growing up together or their on-going friendship!

As such, funny cards are perfect for your sister or your brother and you can use nicknames and even mild insults on personalised cards to really tease them and make them chuckle. Some of the best cards I've ever had were from my brother because we have such a similar sense of humour and he usually wrote a few words inside that made me laugh too!

Cards For Friends
Choosing personalised cards for friends isn't dissimilar to choosing them for brothers and sisters sometimes. Then, at other times, like when you need to get a card for a workmate it's a whole other story. It can be a wise decision to steer clear of 'funny' cards for work friends because they might not share your sense of humour!

Instead, go for a sentimental card which relates to their interests and say something kind or supportive on the inside message. In some work places (especially male dominated ones!) risqué cards can offer a laugh but some office workers might find cards which feature lingerie models or shirtless blokes a bit too cheeky. So beware.

Thank You Cards
Sometimes you just need a card to tell someone you appreciate something which they've done for you recently and at times like that personalised cards which say 'thank you' are perfect. You might want to give a personalised thank you card to someone who took care of a pet for you, or watered the plants whilst you were on holiday. Or you could even give one to somebody who helped you through a difficult time by offering you plenty of support and shoulder to cry on.

Some Final Tips
Some people find choosing card designs for other people difficult or even stressful. Although the thrill of getting people personalised cards is that you can really key in to what people are interested in and reflect their personalities, if you're not sure if the recipient will like a specific design it's probably best to play it safe and go for a more understated card.

By opting for one which has more of a universal appeal, you'll feel less nervous when you're writing the message inside it. After all, when a card has the recipient's name on the front and a thoughtful message on the inside page, it's practically guaranteed to make the receiver smile! So, there's no need to worry about whether the design is or isn't to their tastes.
