Get Organised Early
There's nothing worse than having a mad, last minute panic just before Christmas worrying that you still haven't got your shopping done or sorted the house out.
Start making lists as early as you can and categorise them into the essential 'to-dos' such as: present buying, food shopping and home decorations. Ticking things off feels so satisfying and working from manageable lists will make Christmas planning a breeze.
Set Yourself A Budget
Worrying about money over Christmas is not fun and will only make you feel up-tight and panicked even into the new year.
Set yourself a present budget for each family member and stick to it. With loads of great deals around at the moment you can still pick up fantastic Christmas gifts without the huge price tags.
Share The Workload
Hosting a festive party or even Christmas Day itself is a lot of work and really isn't a lot of fun doing it all on your own.
Rope in your friends and family to help. Give them a job to be in charge of for the day even if it's just peeling the potatoes for you, or topping up people's glasses. Sharing the workload will mean you'll get things done quicker and you'll be able to enjoy the festivities yourself.
Find Time To Relax
Whilst it's great fun having lots of social engagements over Christmas, it can also be quite exhausting.
Set aside some chill time, perhaps with the family, or if you're lucky just on your own and have a quiet afternoon and relax. Watch a festive film, catch up on the TV you've missed or get stuck into a good book. Some time out will help you feel refreshed and ready for the next event you've got to attend.
Christmas Is All About The Family
It's so easy to get caught up in all the hype surrounding Christmas. Having the perfect day or buying the best presents really isn't what matters.
Remember that being with friends and family and enjoying each other's company is what it's all about. Don't get hung up on all the silly little things – the children will have a great time whatever happens so just enjoy being altogether and having fun.
